Natural disasters

Natural disasters are something we humans cannot control. It will keep on going in till the end of the world. It can hurt people, animals, and places. Natural disasters can happen anywhere in the world at any time. Some of the most common natural disasters are earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and wildfires. An earthquake is when the ground shakes. This happens because the earth’s plates move underground and when it happens it can knock down buildings, break roads and more. Sometimes they even cause tsunamis, which are big waves in the ocean and part of the natural disaster. A flood is when too much water covers over our lands. This can happen after a long rainstorm or when a river overflows with water. Floods can ruin homes, cars, and any personal items that the water gets.  People must move to safe places where the water does not reach until the water goes away. A hurricane is a big storm with strong winds and a lot of rain. Hurricanes form over warm ocean water. When they reach land, they can break down trees, houses, cars and cause floods. People who live near the ocean are very aware of the news in case one day it happens, and they can leave to a safety area. A wildfire is a big fire that spreads quickly in forests or grassy areas. Wildfires can start from lightning or from people not being careful with fire. These fires burn trees, homes, hurt animals and their homes. Firefighters work hard to stop them from spreading more and more. Natural disasters are very serious and people that live in areas where they happen a lot need to be prepared for them. Families can make emergency kits with food, water, and flashlights. They can also plan to know what to do if one day one of these natural disasters happens.
